S G Ellis Contractors Ltd was founded by the late Mr Stanley G Ellis is 1966. After working for almost 21 years, Stanley left what was then YEB (Yorkshire Electricity Board) and decided to go work for himself. At YEB he had started as an apprentice and eventually worked his way up to the role of foreman. Harold Ellis, Stanley's father, had also worked at the YEB having held the title of Senior contacts manager. This gave Stanley excellent knowledge to begin work as an electrical contractor. Then in October 1966, he formed S.G.Ellis Electrical Contractors. At First, with being a new company getting work was hard, so Stanley turned his hand to small works including plumbing and joinery to make ends meet. Soon the electrical began to flow and this enabled him to take on an electrician and apprentice, all working from his home and garage. In 1968, the company became a limited company and now has the name S.G.Ellis (Electrical Contractors) Ltd. In 1970 Harold retired from the YEB and became the companies book keeper and secretary.
